Ride from the summit of Haleakala Crater, enjoy the diverse trails of Maui, and/or cruise along the streets on your road bike.
Maui Bike Tours
Bike the Volcano
Haleakala Bike Company has a couple of ways you can ride down Haleakala Crater's long downhill slopes.
1. Take their self-paced tours. They'll van you to the summit to watch the sunrise, then they'll take you to the base of Haleakala National Park to start your self-paced tour. They make sure you know where to go, then it's up to you to cruise down.
We love this way of riding down because you can stop for photos anytime you want. You also don't have to keep up or wait for slow-pokes. You take your time, and enjoy the views throughout the journey.
2. Rent a bike and drive up yourself. You may need to get a ride. If you do this, you can ride directly from the summit of the crater. You can't do this with any other tour, so It's nice to have your own control of things.
Mountain Bike Trails
Rent a mountain bike, and ask local pros where to go. The guys at Haleakala Bike Company can rent you bikes and give you tips on the best spots. Maui is full of great biking opportunities.
Road Bikes
For those that take biking more seriously, rent a road bike and explore the island by street. There's a lot of great spots with shoulders to ride, or bike paths, all around the island. Ask a shop pro where to go for the best and safest experience.
